Call for Nominations for the Board of Directors of SomaDetect Inc.
July 2021
Founded in 2016, SomaDetect is a high-growth, technology startup in the dairy industry that is looking to add a highly experienced, farmer-first perspective to its Board of Directors. Currently operating in Canada and the US, we have a diverse and well-established Board that is committed to high-growth while role modeling integrity and impact-driven decision making at every turn.
Our new Board member will play an important role in helping shape our strategy now and into the future. We are specifically seeking a team-oriented individual with a genuine interest in setting up SomaDetect as a massively successful company, and a cornerstone of the global dairy data landscape.
More on the important skills and experience we are seeking:
As a high integrity individual, you naturally set ego aside to put the needs of the business ahead of personal or professional gain; decisions and actions are driven by what’s in the best interest of the business and the team; you are proactive, open and honest when it comes to disclosing any real or potential conflicts of interest.
You have been an entrepreneur, or you have played a critical leadership role in one or more high growth ag/dairy tech companies; you have “walked in our shoes” or walked closely alongside of a startup entrepreneur; you have deep first-hand knowledge and understanding of what truly counts when growing and scaling a company.
You keenly understand what it takes to shift from science to commercial success and the potential growth pain-points that will be experienced along the way -- you can confidently help us turn the corner into commercialization and growth and you have the direct experience that supports this. Strong business acumen is a must.
Ideally, you have recognized expertise in the dairy industry and you know and understand farmers and their challenges; you understand the rapidly changing landscape of the dairy industry, particularly in North America.
You have a solid reputation as a respected leader in your field along with a deep and trustworthy industry network.
While not required, the following would be significant assets:
A strong understanding of farming and the dairy supply system.
Previous experience working on farm and an understanding of the width and breadth of the Farm support system, including processors, vets, nutritionists, reproduction, etc.
The ability to act as a strong and credible reference for future fundraising or connect us directly with investors would be an asset.
Governance experience and experience being part of a high-functioning Board.
Direct experience with Mergers and Acquisitions.
Time Commitment
Directors may spend 6 - 10 hours a month preparing for, and attending, meetings and strategic planning sessions. Meetings and events are scheduled during regular business hours. Before submitting your nomination, carefully consider the required responsibilities and time commitment.
In recognition of your time and commitment, SomaDetect will be offering an honorarium.
Next Steps
If you are serious about this opportunity to direct your expertise towards creating a more connected dairy industry and disrupting the dairy landscape with a novel milk-based data source, we encourage you to apply. You will be joining an exceptional team of engaged leaders who believe in the future of SomaDetect and its ability to create positive change for the farmers who make our food.
SomaDetect is committed to creating an inclusive environment and building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We value diversity and recognize that experience comes in many forms and skills are transferable. If you feel passionate about our efforts and believe that your unique experience has prepared you to have the skills to contribute and lead in this role, apply!
Please email your resume and cover letter highlighting relevant experience and indicating why you are interested in joining our Board of Director to info@somadetect.com -- stating “Your Full Name + Board of Directors” in the subject line of your email to us.
