Holiday Special: Our Traditions and What We're Grateful For
We can’t help but think about the things we are thankful for, especially in a year where there has been so much trepidation, negativity, and uncertainty. Not only are we feeling gratitude, but we are also reminded of holiday traditions during this time of year. So, just for a moment, we want to share with you some positivity as we prepare to say goodbye to the year 2020.
What We’re Grateful For
Jimy, our Operations Analyst, is grateful for the opportunity for growth that the company has offered. He thanks his family, friends, and colleagues who have shaped his life during 2020. He looks forward to this break - to rest, recharge and reflect - all in preparation for an exciting 2021!
Ryan, our Farm Sales Specialist, is leaving 2020 feeling incredibly grateful for his family, friends, and the SomaDetect Team. Ryan is incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to move back to his home province this year and be closer to loved ones.
Rachel, our Graphic and UI/UX Designer, is grateful for many things this year. She’s thankful for her health, and for the health of her friends and family. She’s grateful for the opportunities she has had this year and for the people who have helped her along the way. And, she’s grateful for her fellow team members!
What We’re Excited For
Food is always a big part of the holiday season. Ryan is excited to spend Christmas Eve with his parents making cabbage rolls. Every year, his family makes 100 cabbage rolls and delivers them to friends and family.
Another team member shares one of her traditions, but with a twist! Every year, she has celebrated the days leading up to Christmas with an advent calendar. Started from when she was young, she loved counting down the days until celebrating the holiday. This year, with travel restrictions in place due to the pandemic, she’s sending family members homemade advent calendars to keep the tradition alive and to celebrate together, even from afar!
A tradition Jimy looks forward to is opening presents on Christmas day. Despite not having his family close, he is planning on opening presents while having his family on Zoom. He is thankful his family is healthy and they are still able to share these moments, despite not being together.
We may not know what’s in store for 2021, but we’re optimistic. This year has proven to be challenging, but our team has persevered. We have been able to accomplish many milestones for the company. We are reminded that we have our friends, our family, our traditions, and each other in these times.
In our next blog post, we’ll be recapping 2020, and some of those milestones we were able to accomplish through it all. Stay tuned!
